Our history…

LE MAS DES OISEAUX is a family run business with vineyards situated in both Aubignan and Carpentras. Robert JACQUES, grew up in a family of wine growers, his father having worked some of these vineyards since 1930. Robert with wife Claudie established their own enterprise in 1970, having purchased 8.5 hectares of A.O.C. Côtes du Ventoux vineyards to add to the 3 hectares Robert inherited from his father Fernand.

In 1988, the business expanded considerably with the purchase of a further 9 hectares of vineyard in the village of Aubignan. In the years that followed Robert and Claudie continued to purchase compatible plots of various sizes.

A further generation strengthened the family estate when Robert and Claudie’s daughter and her husband Fabrice GROMELLE added a 6 hectares in 1998.

Bringing us up to date, Robert and Claudie’s son Alexandre joined the family business in 2001 and added another 2 hectares of A.O.C. Côtes du Ventoux.

Today…

The estate currently extends to 40 hectares :

• 28 hectares of A.O.C Côtes du Ventoux
• 0.9 hectares of desert grapes for the table (prima, danlas, muscat of Hamburg)
• 0.3 hectares of cherry-trees

In addition to extending the estate, the JACQUES and GROMELLE family have sought to establish their own viticulture and in 2000 created their first vintage from their own domaine. From a modest 200 hectolitres only 7000 bottles of red wine were produced in the first year, the rest being sold in bulk to wine merchants.
In 2001 they added their first Rosé, followed in 2002 with the birth of a new red named:” LA CUVEE DES LITORNES”. In 2004, the estate saw its first white wine “LE MERLE BLANC” as well as an additional red called “L’EXCEPTION”. The name of the latter endorses that it will be made exclusively with exceptional vintages and in very small quantities of about 1800 bottles.
